Perhaps you’re feeling like I am during these strange days. The sameness of place, an odd routine, or lack of ability to create a routine that isn’t bombarded incessantly by interruption, can confuse. Sometimes, I feel confused about huge life things while at other times, I feel confused about the smallest tasks.

This verse has always been so stabilizing for me.

“One thing I have asked from the Lord, that I shall seek. That I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord.”

Thank you, Lord, for simplifying the essentials of life!

Psalm 90 begins, “Lord, You have been our dwelling place for all generations.” This “dwelling place” actually reads, “refuge” or “hiding place.” That is the most significant shelter-in-place, right?  It’s my favorite place!

Jesus invites us over and over again to “abide in Me” in John 15. What He is actually saying is, “Make your home in Me.” 

Sunday is Pentecost, fulfilling the promise Jesus made,

“If anyone loves Me, they will keep My word; and My Father will love them, and We will come to them and make Our home in them.”

John 14:23 

Our families might be a crazy wreck right now, but God wants us to bring all that into His Life because He is our true Home. He can handle it! We worry about family members who live far away from us, but we can lift them into the Home of God’s love through prayer. He doesn’t care how messy and smelly our lives are; He wants to move right into our lives. He loves and wants us. We belong to Him.

God is our Home. When we invite Him into our lives, He dispels chaos. He brings rest. That sounds beautiful. There isn’t one thing I need more!
